Impressions of Interiors: Gilded Age Paintings by Walter Gay
Palm Beach | Website
This event occurred in the past.
Wealthy society collectors of the late 19th and early 20th centuries opened their homes to American artist Gay, who painted the lavish interiors. While Gay's contemporaries, like John Singer Sargent, created portraits of high society figures, Gay painted their homes, furniture and interior decor. The exhibit includes almost 70 artworks as well as historical materials examining Gay's life and the times in which he lived. The exhibit runs Jan. 29-April 21 and includes works from Chicago, Boston, Paris and Washington, D.C.
