Florida Grand Opera performs Puccini's poignant opera, featuring star-crossed lovers, a sadistic villain and suicide. Set in Rome during the Napoleonic period, the tragic tale of Tosca's love for the painter Cavaradossi and their implication in revolutionary activities through the machinations of the wicked police chief Scarpia features some of opera's most tender arias. Listen for "Recondita Armonia," "Vissi D'Arte" and "E Lucevan le Stele." The sumptuous production is performed in the original Italian with projected English supertitles, and accompanied by a live orchestra.
